A day in the life of a Scrum Master

The Scrum Master must ensure that the team conduct a variety of key meetings which drive the momentum of the Sprints with the increments of the project. Sprint planning kicks off the Sprint, where the SM gets the team together to commit to the backlog items they can complete in this Sprint.

Planning meetings for 2 week sprints

prepare physically and psychologically

Connect with team members through webex 15 minutes earlier to make sure tech issues are resolved

Get together for sprint planning, pull up Jira board to do a quick recap of what will be done

Pull out backlog

Pull out user stories- heck list of definition of ready

Look at check list for definition of ready to make sure it can go on backlog- make sure sprint is ready to be worked on and all stories will meet sprint goal

Conduct a quick standup

check parking lot, Stay alert to capture impediments, behaviors and make sure problems are being resolved. after that every one goes to execute their tasks. Schedules meeting every Wednesday with the PO to get a sense of his guide.Support PO to make sure requirements are in backlog, make sure user stories as re ranked

Plan for meeting

prepare and get set for the day. Make sure team members are updating the board. When team members are inconsistent.Figure out a way to understand why team members are lagging and find out why.See how you can help bring member up to speed

Go through backlog with PO

PO will be adding any request from customer and prioritize. Have a day set to refine product backlog

Check list of impediments

Figure out how to clear impediments. Evaluate impediments since the goal is to empower teams to be self managed. The goal is to help team succeed.For example software expiring in 2 days. have you reached out to the admin, and make sure to follow up with the admin. If team member has tried to resolve an issue and is not being resolved, the scrum master will handle it. During parking lot , a story in the upcoming sprint needs an external reviewer. Check with team to know who can provide a reviewer. Make sure an impediment is being handled.

Look back

quick notes to capture all info for the retrospective. Drop info for sprint review and retrospective.Before signing off for the day, do a summary report of what has been accomplished, any roadblocks.
